The Lovin’ Spoonful

Ethan turned five months old yesterday, so we took him to the pediatrician for a check-up and his stats.  Weight: 14 lbs., 1 oz.  (10-25%)  Height:  25″ (25%)  Head Circumference:  17″ (50%) And, since he’s been one insatiable little bugger, we decided to start feeding him rice cereal.  So Hans headed to the store for the goods, and I opened the pack of brightly colored baby spoons.  This was going to be interesting.  As all of you parents know, feeding baby with a spoon is no walk in the park.  We stripped Ethan down to his skivvies, placed him in his Bumbo seat on the table, mixed up the cereal, and the rest is history:

Locked and loaded

“Wait…real food?  Did somebody say I get to have real food?”

“Um…I ordered the cheeseburger Happy Meal, ma’am…”

“A ‘spoon,’ you say?  Well, I don’t care for it.”

“Please, mom…make…it…stop.”

“Now we’re talking.”

  1. You can add a bit of rice cereal to the formula in the bottle you know…. He might like that better. More filling, but not having to mess with the spoon just yet. 🙂

  2. Oh, yeah – I forgot to mention…that IS the rice cereal in the bottle! Hans just made it easier by cutting a slit. Worked like a charm.

  3. The flashbacks – make them STOP!

I mean, oh, the memories. The bonding and joy of feeding time. Thanks for the pictorial play-by-play. Totally related. I don’t have any feeding tips other than

    God, grant me the serenity…

  4. oh i love these pictures. I also love the new pictures in the header… someone’s got an eye for photography over there.

    love you!

  5. I loved those spoons you were using. Buttttt, Ellie wouldnt eat from them when I first started feeding her. It was like she couldnt get the food out. We had to use the gerber flat ones. But anyway, she is a pro now (almost 8 months old) and I love using those munchkin spoons now! Sweet pics of your little one.
